so i really want to get to a good place to take pics of our skyline - ever since i started a wall project for the kids gameroom. its my favorite wall in the house right now. so many friends from across the world were generous and sent me photos from their neck of the woods and i have framed them around a usa canvas i picked up a while back.. i just love the look of it - and it turned into an amazing geography lesson for the kids.... as the photos would make way across my email - the kids and i would get an atlas and see where the new site was, we would go online and learn more about the places shown... it is incredible and i actually have a few more to frame and a few on small canvases that i am still waiting on. i hope the project never ends - i love getting photos from around the world and having a glimpse into the beauty of what is there. here is the wall in progress - the clocks have now been set to represent different times across the world - it's kind of fun to walk past the wall and look at a clock and think of one of my friends across the globe and know they are just seeing a sunrise.
The hard part is keeping things straight with 4 kids they are always touching the pics and looking at them. I dont really mind because I love that in some way they are learning a little about our big world and maybe it seems that much smaller seeing it right before their eyes everyday. Here are a few books to go along with kids and learning about their world. Time for kids world atlas
It also has us even more excited to see Disneynature earth. So much to learn and I love that I get to be apart of this learning adventure with the kids.
These pictures have led to another project that I cant wait to see unfold and see in print...And has me trying to get a good picture of the skyline here, not that I love it, but it is a typical site to see when going to a new city. So after being at the zoo last week we were heading home on the freeway and coming up an overpass I had a pretty good angle for a pic - but you cant stop on freeways - so I managed to open my window and snap this one handed - no time for settings or adjustments and no retakes - I am pretty sure this is not the one I am going to use -but I think I could have done much worse given the circumstances - of course a little lighting adjustment in lightroom always make a difference:
I would love to set out on a photo day, but I think I need to learn more about the camera setting first. Getting off auto is a lot harder than I thought.. But I have been reading Kelby's Digital Photography books and learning a lot.
Well, here are a few pages I have recently added to our scrapbook:
